We were approached by THEARC to create a video to be screened at their second annual gala fundraiser. THEARC, or Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus, is a phenomenal community center in Anacostia, an under served neighborhood in Washington, DC. The center delivers high quality educational, arts, recreation, health, and social service programs to children and adults. We fell in love right away.
For the piece, we took an approach that celebrates all that they do in the spirit of hope and self-realization they provide. We took our inspiration from the Harlem Renaissance and classic jazz films, mixed with Balinese shadow puppet techniques. The film was created in combination with a drum line group that marched on stage live during the end of the screening, which included an audience of over 500 people! Now, we are helping THEARC to re-purpose the film as a meeting opener and web video.
"It was an honor for THEARC to have MRB create a short video that represents all that we stand for and in the most precise way!" says THEARC Marketing Director, Wil Thomas, "We received great feedback from people who saw the video at our second annual gala and it made the evening that much more special!"
We were also thrilled with the results, and the opportunity to create a new kind of branded content — branded art content.

...Gotta love shooting 4K footage at 48fps. With so much data captured you really can control the look of the piece in post. Apparently Peter Jackson is doing the same thing for his new film, The Hobbit... Great minds...
